Government Relations

Put simply, TAHC's primary government relations objective is to have a seat at every table where matters related to home care statutes, rules and policies are to be discussed and decided.  To that end, we retain the effective, experienced and well-respected law firm of Butler Snow to lobby for our industry throughout the year and during each State Legislative Session.

Our lobbyists prepare legislative reports during the session to keep us apprised of state bills that may affect the home care industry in Tennessee.  The reports will include bill numbers, sponsors and the status of each. We make each report available to our members under the "Members Only" tab above.

We will, from time to time, choose to take a position on a particular bill.  Sometimes, we will call on our membership to assist us in our advocacy.  When that happens, we will communicate via email with an alert regarding a bill, including our concerns and proposed position.  We may request that a member with expertise in a particular area attend legislative meetings with our staff, leadership and lobbyist.

Even when TAHC chooses not take a position on a bill, we encourage our membership to engage in the legislative process by getting to know your representatives, educating legislators and their staff, reading our legislative updates and reports, providing guidance and asking questions on bills of interest or concern, and helping TAHC set its legislative priorities each session.
