The Tennessee Association for Home Care presents Intermediate ICD-10-CM Coding Update - 1 Day Workshop

Date: Thursday, October 4th, 2018

Time: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (Central Time)

Location: Hotel Preston, 733 Briley Parkway, Nashville, TN 37217

Description: Accurate diagnosis coding is critical to agency survival in the home care world, and hospice coding is increasingly important as well.  There are over 400 code changes and guidance updates coming in October – are you ready? This one-day program will get current home care and hospice coders ready to handle the diagnosis coding changes effective October 1, 2018.  This is not a basic beginning coding class – the presentation will be geared to coders that have a working knowledge of the ICD-10-CM Coding Conventions and Guidelines, and just need an update on changes.  We will also review guidance in areas that are frequently coded incorrectly and discuss coding scenarios that are sometimes a challenge.

The program content will include:

·        Explanation of the ICD-10-CM coding changes for 2019 (effective October 1, 2018)

·        Review of new codes added, old codes deleted and code changes

·        Latest updated guidance from Coding Clinic

·        Practice scenarios with examples typical to home care patients, discussion of scenarios with rationale for code selection and potential coding errors – focus will be challenging areas for home care and hospice coders, including wounds, complications, sepsis, diabetes and more
